Reaction Conditions:
Stage #1: Glycine anhydridewith sodium hydride in N,N-dimethyl-formamide;mineral oil at 20; for 0.5 h;
Stage #2: benzyl bromide in N,N-dimethyl-formamide;mineral oil; for 5 h;
Steps:
1,4-Diallylpiperazine-2,5-dione (1f) and 1,4-Dibenzylpiperazine-2,5-dione (1g); General Procedure
General procedure: Glycine anhydride (285 mg, 2.5 mmol) and NaH (2.2 equiv, 220mg, 60% dispersion in oil) were stirred in dried DMF (5 mL) at r.t. for 0.5 h, then allyl bromide or BnBr were added in portions and the mixture was stirred continuous for 5 h. Crushed ice (10 g) was slowly added and the mixture was poured into sat. NH4Cl (100 mL) and extracted with EtOAc (3 × 50 mL). The combined organic layers were dried (anhyd Na2SO4), filtered, and purified by chromatography(silica gel) to give 1f,g.
