2. General Procedure for the Selective Oxidation of Sulfides
General procedure: To a 25 mL glass tube, sulfide (1 mmol), MeOH (0.5ml), CH2Cl2(4.5ml), and AlCl3(0.5 mmol) were added and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1min.Then, PhI(OAc)2 (1.0 equiv) was added and the solution was stirred at roomtemperature. After the disappearance of the sulfide material (checked by TLC), thesolvent was removed under reduced pressure. The crude was purified by columnchromatography on silica gel (200-300 mesh) with ethyl acetate/petroleum ether.
