A reaction mixture of 4 (500 mg, 244 mmol), pyridine (578 mg, 732 mmol) and MsCl (559 rng, 488 mmol) in CH,Cl2 (10 mL) was stirred at rt for 16 h. The reaction mixture was diluted with CH,Cl,, and it was filtered through a layer of Ceilte. The filtrate was concentrated to give compound 5 as an off-white solid (4.2 g, 95%): ‘H NMR (500 MHz, CDCI,) 6 763-7.43 (m, 3H), 631 (s, 2 H)
