General procedure for the synthesis of 9a-k
General procedure: The solution of 8a-k (1 equiv) in 85% phosphoric acid (150 mL) was heated to reflux for 6 h. After cooling to room temperature, the reaction mixture was slowly poured intoice-cold water (150 mL). The aqueous phase was basified with 6N NaOH aqueoussolution to pH = 7 and extracted with dichloromethane (3 × 150 mL). The combinedorganic solution was washed with water (3 ×150 mL), dried over anhydrous Na2SO4,filtered and concentrated. The residue was purified by silica gel columnchromatography (PE/EA = 100/20) to obtain the compounds 9a-k.
