Steps:
5-Chloro-1-phenyl-tetrazole (1 eq) was added to a solution of sodium hydroxide (5M, 10 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 24 h. The resulting solution was cooled to room temperature and acidified by addition of HCl (aq) (10%; pH≈1). A precipitate was formed, filtered and washed with chloroform and hexane to give the product (90% yield) as a colourless powder;
5-Chloro-1-phenyl-tetrazole (1 eq) was added to a solution of sodium hydroxide (5M, 10 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 24 h. The resulting solution was cooled to room temperature and acidified by addition of HCl (aq) (10%; pH≈1). A precipitate was formed, filtered and washed with chloroform and hexane to give the product (90% yield) as a colourless powder.
