Synthesis of 12-Tridecen-1-ol (41)

A hexane solution of 12-tridecyn-1-ol (40, 115 mg,0.59 mmol) was treated with Lindlar catalyst (115 mg,0.035 mmol, 0.06 eq.) and quinoline (91 mg, 0.71 mmol,1.2 eq.) under a hydrogen atmosphere (1 atm, excess) at0 °C for 10 min. The reaction was quenched by replacementof the reaction atmosphere with nitrogen, and the catalystwas removed by filtration using Celite, and the organic solventwas removed by evaporation in vacuo to obtain crudecolorless oil. The crude products were purified by columnchromatography on silica gel to obtain 12-tridecen-1-ol (41,109 mg, 93% yield) [60] as colorless oil.
