To a stirred solution of compound 3-4 (31.8 g, 80.5 mmol) in anhydrous pyridine (150 mL) was added BzCl (24.8 g, 177 mmol) dropwise at 0° C. The mixture was then stirred at R.T. for 14 hours. The reaction was quenched with water, and the solution was concentrated. The residue was dissolved in EA and washed with saturated NaHCO3. The organic layer was dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated. The residue was purified on a silica gel column (PE/EA=10/1 to 1/1) to give compound 3-5 as a white foam (40.8 g, 84%).
