Synthesis of 5-bromo-4-(3-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-thiazole-2-amine
The product from Step 1 (0.85g, 3.5mmol) was dissolved in N,N-dimethylformamide (10.0mL) to produce a stock solution. N-bromosuccimide (0.65g, 3.5mmol) was dissolved in N,N-dimethylformamide (5mL), and the resulting solution was slowly added dropwisely to the above stock solution.
The mixture was reacted at room temperature for 1h.
The reaction mixture was poured into ice water (100mL), and filtered by suction.
The filter cake was washed with water, and dried to produce the title compound (0.75g).
ESI-MS (m/z): 323.0 [M + H]+
