The 1-(2-methoxy-ethyl)-3-nitro-1H-pyrazole (350 mg, 2.05 mmol) was dissolved in ethyl acetate (5 mL) and methanol (5 mL) was added. Palladium, 10 wt. % on activated carbon, wet (50 mg) was added to the solution and the flask was charged with hydrogen gas via balloon. The reaction stirred at 25° C. for 3 h. The reaction was passed through a plug of Merck silica gel 60, 40-63 μm layered with celite and concentrated in vacuo to give the desired product, 1-(2-methoxy-ethyl)-1H-pyrazol-3-ylamine (266 mg, 92%) as a yellow oil: H1-NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) 6 3.32 (3H, s), 3.34-3.50 (2H, bs), 3.67 (2H, t, J=5.6 Hz), 4.06 (2H, t, J=5.2 Hz), 5.56 (1H, d, J=2.4 Hz), 7.17 (1H, d, J=2.4 Hz).
