This amine is dissolved in methanol and reduced in a hydrogen atmosphere in the presence of Raney nickel. When the reaction is finished the mixture is filtered, evaporated then distilled to produce the 2-(2-N,N-dimethylaminoethyl)aniline. B.Pt. 0.1 mm Hg=85°-90° C. Yield 89%.
