Reaction Conditions:
with potassium carbonate in N,N-dimethyl-formamide;Inert atmosphere;
Steps:
(i) Synthesis of 2-(4-Bromo/Chloro-benzyloxy)-3-methoxy-benzaldehyde (I).
General procedure: A mixture of hydroxy benzaldehyde (10 mmol), alkylhalide (bromo/chloro benzyl bromide) (10 mmol) andK2CO3 (20 mmol) were taken in DMF (30 mL) and thereaction mixture was stirred overnight. The progress ofreaction was monitored through thin layer chromatography and the visualization was accomplished with UVlight. The reaction mixture was then quenched withice (25 g) followed by the addition of water (50 mL).The solid product obtained was fltered over the vaccumpump and dried.
