Steps:

P-Hydroxybenzaldehyde (24.4 g, 0.2 mol) was added to a 500 ml three-necked flask,2-bromoacetamide (27.68, 0.2 mol) and potassium carbonate (55.2 g, 0.4 mol) followed by 300 ml of acetonitrile and stirring at 50 ° C for 5 h.After cooling to room temperature, insoluble matter was filtered off, and the potassium salt of the filtrate was evaporated to dryness. The residue was dissolved in 200 ml of methylene chloride, washed with water 3 times,Dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, filtered and the filtrate was evaporated. The crude product was dried to give 27.31 g of product in 76.3% yield.
