2-amino-3-benzyloxy-iV-tert-butoxycarbonyl-propionic acid methyl ester from above was dissolved in EtOAc (1 mL), 4 N HCl in dioxane (1 mL, 4 mmol) was added. After 2 h at room temperature the solvent was removed and the residue was treated with ether and dried to give 2-amino-3-benzyloxy-propionic acid methyl ester hydrochloride (260 mg, 92%).
