Under electromagnetic stirring, add 2x (1500 mg, 9.19 mmol) to a 250 mL round bottom flask, then add 2,4-dimethoxyaniline (1407 mg, 9.19 mmol), and finally add water (60 mL). After reacting for 5h in an oil bath at 80°C, a purple solid precipitated. Filtration with suction and drying to obtain 2100 mg of purple solid of compound 3x (yield 84%).
