3 Step 3 - Tert-butyl 2-(aminomethyl)-7-azaspiro[3.5]nonane-7-carboxylate
To a solution of tert-butyl 2-cyano-7-azaspiro[3.5]nonane-7-carboxylate (200 mg, 799 umol) and NH3•H2O (0.2 mL) in MeOH (5 mL) was added Raney-Ni (30 mg). The reaction mixture was stirred at 20 °C for 16 hrs under H2 (15 Psi) atmosphere. On completion, the mixture was filtered and the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound (200 mg, 98% yield) as a white solid.1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) d 3.37 - 3.32 (m, 2H), 3.30 - 3.23 (m, 2H), 2.70 (d, J = 7.2 Hz, 2H), 2.33 - 2.24 (m, 1H), 1.97 - 1.88 (m, 2H), 1.59 - 1.55 (m, 2H), 1.45 (s, 9H), 1.44 - 1.37 (m, 4H).
