(3a) 2-Bromo-4-fluoro-6-methoxy aniline 4-Fluoro-2-methoxy aniline (8.25 g, 58.5 mmol) was dissolved in methylene chloride (200 mL) and added with N-bromosuccinic imide (11.4 g, 64.3 mmol) at -78°C followed by stirring for 2 hours. The mixture was further stirred at 0°C for 1.5 hours. The reaction solution was concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel chromatography (n-hexane/ethyl acetate = 4/1) to give the title compound as a colorless oily substance (4.80 g, yield 37%).
