A.2 Step 2:
A mixture of 1H-pyrido[2,3-b]pyrazin-2-one (0.25 g, 1.69 mmol) in phosphorus oxychloride (5 mL ) was stirred at 90 °C for 2 h. The reaction mixture was quenched with ice water. The mixture was extracted with dichloromethane. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated under vacuum to afford 2-chloropyrido[2,3-b]pyrazine (A24) (260 mg, 92%) as a brown solid. MS m/z 166.0 [M+1]+. 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 9.21 - 9.20 (m, 1 H), 9.16 (s, 1H), 8.66 - 8.63 (m, 1H), 7.97 - 7.94 (m, 1 H).
