Steps:

1.2 Preparation of 2-methyl-5,7-dihydroxy chromone

The preparation of the 2-methyl-3-acetyl-5,7-diacetoxy-chromone by (15.9g, 0.05mol) was added to a 1L three-necked flask, was added 10% sodium carbonate solution 400mL. It was heated to reflux for 2 hours. Cooling to room temperature, insolubles were removed by filtration. The filtrate was acidified with hydrochloric pH = 7 ~ 8, large amount of solid precipitated. The solution was cooled to below 10 , filtered, drained and the filter cake was dried in vacuo for 4 hours at 40 , to give an off-white solid powder 8.98 g, yield 93.6%. Finally, a solid powder obtained by 1H-NMR and mass spectrometry, 2-methyl-5,7-hydroxy chromone.
