To a solution of benzyl 4-(2-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)hydrazinyl)piperidine-1- carboxylate (2.60 g, 7.4 mmol) in DCM (40 mL) was added TFA (10 mL) dropwise. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. The reaction was evaporated to remove solvent to give benzyl 4-hydrazinylpiperidine-1-carboxylate (2.19 g, yield: 70.4%) as a yellow oil. MS: m/z 250.4 (M+H+).
