61 Synthesis of (trans-4a,8a)-octa hydro-2H-1 ,4-benzoxazine (Intermediate-59)

Synthesis of (trans-4a,8a)-octa hydro-2H-1 ,4-benzoxazine (Intermediate-59):Intermediate-58 (250 mg, 1.61 14 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (10 mL) was slowly added tosuspension of lithium aluminum hydride (153 mg, 4.0286 mmol) at 0°C. Then reaction mixturewas refluxed for 16 hours. After completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was quenched with 15% sodium hydroxide solution and the insoluble solids were removed by filtration. The aqueous layer was extracted with diethyl ether. Organic layers were dried by sodium sulfate and concentrated to give Intermediate-59 (170 mg) as pale brown oil.
