5.2. Synthesis of 7-chloro-2-methyl-3-(substituted) quinazolin-4(3H)-one (3-12)
General procedure: In an open beaker, an equimolar amount of intermediate 7-chloro-2-methyl-4H-benzo[ d ][1,3]oxazin-4-one ( 2 ) and various pri- mary amine containing moieties were fused together for 30 min at 200-250 °C in an oil bath. After cooling the liquid, ethanol was added. To obtain the pure product, the separated solid was filtered, washed with ethanol, dried, and recrystallized with ethanol and methanol many times ( 3 -12 ).
