Step 6: 3-bromo-5-isobutoxy-benzoic acid 3-Bromo-5-isobutoxy-benzoic acid isobutyl ester (12.0 g) prepared in Step 5 was dissolved in methanol (100.0 mL). 10% sodium hydroxide solution (100.0 mL) was added to the solution, which was then stirred at 50° C. for 2 hours. The reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure, acidified with a 3 N hydrochloric acid solution, and then extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried on anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and then concentrated under reduced pressure to 9.5 g of the titled compound in the form of white solid (Yield: 95.4%). 1H-NMR (CDCl3) δ 7.81 (t, 1H), 7.54 (dd, 1H), 7.29 (t, 1H), 3.76 (d, 2H), 2.15-2.05 (m, 1H), 1.04 (d, 6H)
