A mixture of 3-bromo-5-fluorobenzonitrile (2.0 g, 10 mmol, 1.0eq) and morpholine (8.7 g, 100 mmol, 10.0 eq) was stirred for 5 h at 120 °C. Water (100 mL) was added to the mixture, and the solid was collected. The filter cake was washed with water (30 mL), and then dissolved in EtOAc (100 mL), dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated in vacuum to give an off-white solid (1.92 g, 72%) LCMS m/z = 267 (M+1).
