To a solution of 7 (270. mg, 2.406 mmol) in dry methylene chloride (5 mL) was added 2nd generation Grubbs catalyst (15.0 mg, 0.0176 mmol). The reaction mixture was refluxed overnight and cooled to rt. The mixture was concentrated in vacuo, and the residue was purified by silica gel columnchromatography (EtOAc/hexane, 1:8) to give cyclopentenol 8 (159.8 mg,79%): 1H NMR (CDCl3, 300 MHz) δ 5.63 (m, 2H), 3.65 (quint, 1H), 2.55(m, 2H), 2.36 (m, 2H); 13C NMR (CDCl3, 75 MHz) δ 134.5, 72.4, 43.5.
