1-Phosphono-4-[4-(2,4-difluorophenyl)phenyl]butylsulfonic acid tripotassium salt, 10. 4-(2,4-difluorophenyl)benzaldehyde was made by a Suzuki coupling reaction from 2,4-difluorophenylboronic acid (3.6 mmol) and 4-bromobenzaldehyde (3 mmol), as described previously (21). Compound 10 was prepared from the aldehyde thus obtained, following general method F, as a white powder (470 mg, 28% overall yield). Anal. (C16H14F2K3O6PS) C, H; 1H NMR (400 MHz, D2O): δ 1.65-2.00 (m, 4H, -CH2CH2-); 2.45-2.60 (m, 2H, PhCH2), 2.80-2.85 (m, 1H, CHSO3K), 6.80-7.40 (m, 7H, aromatic); 31P NMR (D2O): δ 12.5.
