A mixture of l -(4-nitrophenethyl)pyrrolidine 114 (1.9 g, 8.64 mmol) and 500 mg of Pd/C was stirred in 100 mL of MeOH under ? at 45 psi for 16 h. This mixture was filtered to afford 115 as a white solid (1.6 g, 98%). ? NMR (400 MHz, CDC13) ppm: 7.07 (dd, J= 15.6 Hz, 8.4 Hz, 2H), 6.67 (dd, J= 15.6 Hz, 8.4 Hz, 2H), 3.58 (brs, 2H), 2.77-2.71 (m, 2H), 2.69-2.60 (m, 2H), 2.59-2.56 (m, 4H), 1.867-1.80 (m, 4H).
