77C. 4-(4-Bromo-phenyl)-piperidine-4-carboxylic acid; A suspension of 4-(4-bromo-phenyl)-4-cyano-piperidine-l-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (13.3g, 36.4 mmol) in concentrated hydrochloric acid (150 ml) was heated to reflux for 72 hours. The reaction was allowed to cool then was concentrated in vacuo furnishing a brown solid that was used crude in the following protection step (10.2g, 98%). LC/MS: (PS-A2) R_t 1.82 [M+H]⁺284
