Steps:

2.1 Step 1:

Add 1.720 g of 4-bromoaniline to a 100-mL single-necked flask and add 30 mL of methylene chloride. Slowly add a dichloromethane solution containing 2.680 g of 4-bromobenzenesulfonyl chloride under ice-water bath. After the addition, 1.6 g of pyridine was added dropwise, and the reaction was allowed to move to room temperature (25° C., same below) for 10 h after the addition was complete.After completion of the reaction, 1M hydrochloric acid was added for three times, and the mixture was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The filtrate was dried under reduced pressure and purified by column chromatography. The eluent was petroleum ether and acetone in a volume ratio of 20:3. N-(4-bromophenyl)-4-bromobenzenesulfonamide was obtained as a white solid in 90% yield.
