2-(methoxycarbonyl)pyridine-4-carboxylic acid (2.35 g from step a) was dissolved in water (5 mL), treated with NH4OH 28% aqueous solution (15 mL) and the solution was left stirring at RT O/N. Solvent was eliminated under reduced pressure affording 2-carbamoylpyridine-4- carboxylic acid and 4-carbamoylpyridine-2-carboxylic acid (1.27 g) that was used as such in the next step.
