4-Cyclopropyl-4H-[1,2,4]triazole synthesis

1synthesis methods
-

Yield:36175-35-6 6.84 g

Reaction Conditions:

in methanol at 40; for 20 h;Reflux;

Steps:

2.2.1. Synthesis of 4-cyclopropyl-1,2,4-triazole (4-C3trz)

The ligand 4-cyclopropyl-1,2,4-triazole was synthesized using the method described by Soliman et al. [17] (Scheme 1). 24.15 g trimethylorthoformate (26.83 cm3; 0.163 mol) were mixed with a solution of 9.13 g (0.152 mol) monoformylhydrazine in 200 cm3 methanol. The solution was refluxed for 4 h, then cooled to 40 °C and 4.0 g (4.88 cm3; 0.07 mol) cyclopropylamine were added. The mixture was further refluxed for 20 h. Then the solvent was removed with a rotary evaporator. The ligand was purified by vacuum distillation at 130 °C and 0.9 mbar, yielding a colorless solid, 6.84 g (89.4% yield) and melting point of 84-88 °C. The ligand (C5H7N3; Mol. Wt.: 109.13) (Anal. Calc. C, 55.03; H, 6.47; N,38.50. Found: C, 54.94; H, 6.41; N, 38.47%), 1H NMR, d (ppm): 0.98 (d, 2H, CH2 cyclopropyl); 3.51 (m, 1H, CH cyclopropyl); 8.54 (s, 2H,CH-triazole).
