Steps:
2 Preparation of 2- (4-formylphenoxy) acetonitrile
P-hydroxybenzaldehyde (24.4 g, 0.2 mol) was added to a 500 ml three-necked flask,2-bromoacetonitrile (24 g, 0.2 mol) and potassium carbonate (55.28, 0.4 mol) followed by 300 mL of acetonitrile and stirring at 50 ° C for 5 h.After cooling to room temperature, insoluble matter was filtered off and the potassium salt of the filtrate was evaporated to dryness. The residue was dissolved in 200 ml of methylene chloride and washed three times with anhydrous magnesium sulfate. The filtrate was evaporated to dryness and the crude product was dried to give 28.72 g , Yield 89.1%.
