dihydro-1,8-naphthyridine-1(2H)-carboxylate (1 g, 3.26 mmol) in THF (20 mL) was added a solution of lithium borohydride (2 M, 2.12 mL, 4.24 mmol) in THF. The reaction was stirred at rt overnight. Water (15 mL) was added slowly to the reaction. After stirring at rt for 10 min, the mixture was diluted with EtOAc (12 mL), and extracted with EtOAc (3 x 8 mL). The combine organic layers were dried (Na2SO4), filtered, and concentrated. The residue was purified via flash chromatography (SiO2) to give Intermediate E3A (782 mg, 86%). LCMS (ES): m/z 279.1 [M+H]+.
