Steps:
2.1 (1) 2-oxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-benzo [d] imidazole-5-sulfonyl chloride
To a solution of chlorosulfonic acid (13 mL), 2-hydroxybenzimidazole (8.00 g, 41.2 mmol) was added in 10 portions under ice-cooling over 1 hour. After stirring for 30 minutes at room temperature, the reaction mixture was added to water under ice cooling. The reaction mixture was filtered, washed with water and dried under reduced pressure to give the title compound (10.8 g, 77%).
