General procedure: Practical synthesis of regioisomeric 6- and 7-Methoxytetrahydro-3-benzazepines has been reported accordingto Organic Process Research & Development 2010, 14, 380e385.Removal of trifluoroacetyl could be effective with NaOH in THF/H2Omixed solution. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for4 h and extracted by ethyl acetate. The organic layer was thenconcentrated under reduced pressure and used for the next stepwithout further purification.7-Methoxy-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-benzo[d]azepine (37a):2.5 G, 96%, colorless oil; 1H NMR (600 MHz, DMSO-d6)d 2.70e2.80 (m, 8H), 2.96 (s, 1H), 3.70 (s, 3H), 6.61 (dd, J 8.1,2.7 Hz, 1H), 6.68 (d, J 2.7 Hz, 1H), 6.98 (d, J 8.2 Hz, 1H)
