Steps:

4.1.9. General procedure for preparation intermediates (12a-12p)

General procedure: To a solution of 6,6-dimethyl-5,7-dioxaspiro[2.5]octane-4,8-dione(1.0 g, 5.9 mmol) in 10 mL of DMF was added substituted aniline 11a-11p (6.5 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at rt overnight. Thereaction mixture was poured into cold water (10 mL). The precipitatethat formed was collected by filtration, washed with water, and driedunder vacuum to afford the desired product 12a-12p.
