General Procedure for Oxidation of ω-Hydroxyacids to ω-Oxoacids
General procedure: IBX (1.5 eq) was added to a solution of the hydroxyacid (2 mmol) in DMSO(7 mL). The mixture was stirred for 4 h and quenched by addition of water. The precipitate was removed by filtration. Extraction with ethyl acetate (2 × 50 ml),anhydrification with Na2SO4, and removal of the solvent in vacuo gave almost pureoxoacid as colorless oil.
