4.5. Evaluation of catalyst
General procedure: Cinnamaldehyde (1 mmol) was dissolved in 25 mL of deionized water at 70 °C and 2.0 g β-CDP was added into a 150 mL three-necked flask fitted with a reflux condenser and magnetic stirrer. The mixture was heated to 70 °C in an oil bath with electric heater. Then, 1.5 mmol sodium bicarbonate dissolved in 4 mL 30% (w/w) H2O2 (35 mmol) was slowly dropped in. The resulting system was stirred with magnetic stirrer at 70 °C for 2.5 h, 600 rpm. The mixture was extracted by ethyl acetate and then centrifuged. The extracted liquid mixture was analyzed by GC-MS with naphthalene as an internal standard. The reproducibility for all the data was within 5%.
