General synthetic scheme of of 2-hydrazino-3-(4-nitrophenyl) quinazolin-4-one (Va-j).
General procedure: The compound(4a-j) (0.01 mol) was dissolved in ethanol (25 mL).To this mixture 99% hydrazine hydrate (0.1 mol) andanhydrous potassium carbonate (100 mg) was addedand refluxed for 36 h. The reaction mixture was cooledand poured into ice cold water. The solid so obtainedwas filtered, washed with water, dried and recrystallizedusing ethanol to afford the compound (Va-j).
