Step 2: To a solution of ethyl 2-((4-methoxybenzyl)amino)-2-oxoacetate (10.00 g, 42.15 mmol) in EtOH (200 mL) was added 1 -aminopropan-2-ol (3.80 g, 50.58 mmol). The mixture was heated at 75 °C for 2 hours. The mixture was concentrated under vacuum, washed with n-hexane (150 mL, two times) , filtered and dried under vacuum. A/1 -(2-hydroxypropyl)-/V2-(4-methoxybenzyl)oxalamide (8.70 g, 77% yield) was obtained
