Preparation of 13-
To a solution of 12 (1.05 g, 4.6 mmol) in ethanol (20 mL) and H20 (20 mL) was charged with Zn powder (3.00 g, 4.6 mmol) followed by NH4C1 (2.47 g, 4.6 mmol) at room temperature. After being stirred at room temperature for 2 h, the reactionmixture was filtered through Celite bed and washed with CH2C12 (100 mL). The layers were separated and the aqueous layer was extracted with CH2C12 (3 x 50 mL). The combined organic layers were washed with water (100 mL), brine (100 mL), dried over anhydrous Na2SO4 and concentrated under reduced pressure to afford 13 (900 mg, 96%) as a solid; MS (MM) m/z211.1[M+Hf’.
