16 g Ethyl 2-chlorothiazol-4-carboxylate was added to 120 ml ammonia water, and reacted for 3 hr. The resultant reaction mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated to obtain 5.6 g of a colorless fine needle crystal (yield 34%); ¹H NMR (DMSO-d₆)7.66(1H,s); 7.85(1H,s); 8.24(1H,s); ¹³C NMR (DMSO-d₆,ppm) 127.35, 148.47, 150.46, 161.06.
