A mixture of 3-fluorobenzene-l-sulfonyl chloride (5.00 g, 25.7 mmol), 18-crown- 6 (0.170 g, 0.642 mmol) and potassium fluoride (7.46 g, 128 mmol) in acetonitrile (51 mL) was stirred for 4 h. Saturated NaHCO3 (200 mL) was added and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined organics were washed with saturated NaHCO3 (200 mL) and dried over MgSO4 and concentrated to yield the title intermediate as a yellow oil that was used without purification in the next step (4.20 g, 92%).
