2.1 Step 1:
Step 1: 3-[4-Methyl-5-(1H-pyrazol-3-yl)thiazol-2-yl]pyridine 5.04 g (18.4 mmol) of 3-dimethylamino-1-(4-methyl-2-pyridin-3-ylthiazol-5-yl)propenone in 80 ml of ethanol and 2 ml (41.1 mmol) of hydrazine hydrate were heated under reflux for 0.5 h. The mixture was concentrated by evaporation and the residue was recrystallized from dioxane. Yield: 3.75 g (83% of theory), logP (HCOOH) 1.31 1H-NMR (D6-DMSO): 2.6 (s, 3H), 6.6 (s, 1H), 7.5 (dd, 1H), 7.8 (s, 1H), 8.25 (d, 1H), 8.65 (m, 1H), 9.1 (s, 1H), 13 (s, 1H)
