4.2 Typical procedure for the preparation of 2-fluoro-1-phenylethanone (2a)
General procedure: To a flask containing water (3 mL) and TBAF·3H2O (3 mmol) was added 2-bromo-1-phenyl ethanone (1a, 1 mmol). The mixture was stirred at 100 °C for 20 min. It was then cooled to room temperature and extracted with diethyl ether (5 mL 3×). The combined organic phases were dried, filtered and concentrated under vacuum. The residue was purified by column chromatography on silica gel eluting with ethyl acetate/hexane (5%) to give 2-fluoro-1-phenyl ethanone (2a). 2b-2k were obtained in a similar manner.
