Preparation 2
A solution of sodium (3,5 g, 151 mmol) in 250 mL of ethanol was treated with thiophenol, (14,1 mL, 137 mmol) followed by ethyl chlorofluoroacetate (25 g, 178 mmol). After stirring 3.5 h at room temperature the formation of the product was complete. The mixture was diluted with 400 mL hexane/ether (1: 1), washed with water (3 x 100 mL), dried over [MGS04] and evaporated to give the product (29,2 g) in quantitative yield. The product was used without further purification. The title compound may be obtained as described in Allmendinger, T. , Tetrahedron, 47,4905-4914 (1991). [NMR'H (CDC13)] : [1.] 19 (t, 3H, [J = 7.] 1 Hz), 4.14 (q, 2H, [J = 7.] 1 Hz), 5.57 (d, [1H,] J = 52.2 Hz), 7.34-7. 40 (m, 3H), 7.55-7. 58 (m, 2H).
