Step (c) 2-(chloromethyl)-6-fluoroimidazo[l,2-α]pyridine(6-fluoroimidazo[l,2-fl]pyridin-2-yl)methanol (4.2 g, 25.3 mmol) was heated at 60 ⁰C in thionyl chloride (46.0 mL, 630 mmol) for 2h. The resulting solution was cooled and concentrated to leave a solid, which was triturated with diethyl ether and dried in vacuo to give the sub-title compound as a solid (3.45 g, 74%).¹H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-J₁₅) δ 9.25 (IH, t), 8.54 (IH, s), 8.06 (IH, dd), 7.93 (IH, ddd), 4.99 (2H, s)
