42.2 Step-2: Preparation of (7-bromoimidazo[l,2-a]pyridin-2-yl)methanol.
L1AIH4 (21.26 mL, 21.26 mmol, 1M in THF) was added to a solution of ethyl 7-bromoimidazo[l,2-a]pyridine-2-carboxylate (5.2 g, 19.33 mmol) in THF (100 mL) at -30°C. The reaction was quenched with ethyl acetate (2 X 200 mL) and washed with brine (100 mL). The organic layers were filtered through celite, and the filtrate was concentrated. The crude product was purified using flash chromatography, eluting with 2.8% MeOH:DCM, to give (7-bromoimidazo[l,2- a]pyridin-2-yl)methanol (2.0 g, 52%).LCMS (Method-H): 98.80% (RT 1.947, 230.0 nm) (MS: ESI +ve 228.9 [M+l]).
