4.3 General procedure for the conversion of azides into iodides
General procedure: To a solution of alkyl azide (1 equiv) 0.2 M in dichloromethane were added at room temperature 2-4 equiv of tert-BuI under an argon atmosphere. After stirring for 18 h at room temperature, the reaction mixture was washed with saturated Na₂S₂O₄ and the layers were separated. The organic phase was dried (MgSO₄), filtered, and concentrated in vacuo. Flash column chromatography on silica gel using pentane as the eluent afforded the corresponding iodide.
