5.2.1.3. Synthetic procedures for compounds 8a-r
General procedure: Compound 8a was synthesized by a facile method improving on the literature [18]: To a solution of compound 7a in anhydrous ethanol, hydrazine monohydrate was added. The mixture was refluxed for 1 h. The resulting solid was removed by filtration, and the filtrate was evaporated on a rotavap. The residue was slurried in anhydrous ether and filtered, and the filtrate was washed with water again. The ether layer was separated, dried with CaCl2 and evaporated to afford Compound 8a.
