Steps:

1.1 Step 1. Synthesis of 2,2-diethyloxirane

3-Methylenepentane (24.63 mL, 201.99 mmol) and mCPBA (55.75 g, 323.19 mmol) were dissolved in DCM (300 mL) at 0°C. The solution was stirred at room temperature for 18 h. To the reaction mixture, Na₂S0₃ aqueous solution was added, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with saturated NaCl aqueous solution, dried with anhydrous MgS0₄, and then concentrated under reduced pressure. The obtained product was used without further purification (20.00 g, 97%, colorless oil).
